Every rejected applicant has the right to a single, structured appeal. This page explains who may appeal, on what grounds, and by when.
Any journal that received a Rejected decision may appeal once. A Conditionally Indexed outcome is not an appeal case, since it is resolved by submitting the required corrections within the stated window.
An appeal must rest on at least one of the following. Disagreement with the outcome alone is not sufficient.
Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the decision being issued. After 30 days the decision is final, though the journal may re-apply from the start once the underlying issues are resolved.
An appeal is reviewed by committee members who were not involved in the original decision. They may uphold the decision, overturn it, or return the submission to a specific stage for re-assessment. The appeal outcome and its rationale are archived alongside the original decision. Appeals are limited to one per submission.
